postal inspection (audit) connects the meter to the funds server and uploads the PSD (meter) register information. After a 90-day period of inactivity (no connection to Funds Server), the postage functions are automatically deactivated to protect your funds. To reactivate postage functions a postal inspection must be performed.

This “Timeout” feature is required by the USPS to protect and monitor funds on the mailing machine.

You can also use the postal inspection to set the mailing system time after Daylight Savings Time transitions, as the postal inspection connection to the Funds Server also sets the mailing system time and date.

  1. Before you begin: Either a LAN cable or modem and phone line must be plugged in to your mailing system for the lockout to be successfully cleared.

To unlock the PSD and manually connect to the Postal Server:

    1. Either:

      1.

      1. If the audit is successful, the system displays a successful message.

If the audit fails, the system displays a failure message explaining the cause of the error. Try to correct the cause and retry.

Manual calls allow you to connect to the Online Server in order to retrieve new information (update postal rates, slogan or messages) or to enable features and options (weigh platform capacity, number of accounts, differential weighing, etc.).
