Quadient DS-1200i

Designed to meet the workflow demands of almost every high-volume mailing application, the DS-1200 G4i delivers maximum performance with the smallest footprint of any production-level solution. No matter what the job is, the DS-1200 G4i outperforms the competition every step of the way, from efficient paper loading to predictive intelligence that estimates when the job will be completed.

  • * Note that insert finger position is dependent on throat dimensions. Job to job variations could require different settings.

  • Envelope Requirements:
                             Weight: 80gsm (20lbs bond) minimum.

  • Envelopes to be good quality machine-fill envelope. Dimensions and quality to be consistent across manufactured batches.
  • Windows to be securely affixed to within 1.5mm (1/16”) of top and side
edges. Top edge to be flat and free from puckering. Windows to be clear (completely transparent) if output reading is required.
(If window is made from recyclable material and is translucent, then it is
    subject to test).
  • Side seams to be securely glued up to top of seam.
Position of internal side seams to give a minimum 5mm (3/16”) clearance or overlap to the edge of any insert.

  • Pre-scored flap crease to enable the envelope flap to open flat.
No twisting, curling or distortion evident.
No glue seepage on interior or exterior of envelope.
    Paper smoothness: 100-200 Sheffield units.

  • Large printed areas require approval from the Technical Support Dept.
Envelopes not meeting the above requirements may be acceptable, subject to testing and approval by Technical Support Dept. Envelopes not meeting the above requirements may affect machine performance.

  • Thick packs are often difficult to eject when run in combination with thin
pack work. To overcome this, additional transport wheels and tyres are
provided with each machine; these allow the user to increase the amount
of drive for the wetter. The wheels/tyres replace the plain rollers on the the wetter carrier assembly A2661A.
  • The 1200 is fitted with semi-automated finger settings which the operator
is advised to set for specific envelope throat depths. For ‘Z’ folded material, the fingers should be set further into the envelope by 5mm.

Insert Set (contents of envelope):
                                          Max. Set Depth: 154mm
                                          Max. Set Width: 241mm
Max. Set Thickness: 8mm (uncompressed,                                                and after inserting in envelope)

  • Where the insert is greater in depth than the folded prime document, this
must be by no more than 7mm.

  • Insert Set Clearances:
Width Clearance = 2 x Thickness of contents, then add 16mm. Minimum
    total clearance = 19mm, maximum = 32mm.
Example: For 5mm thickness of contents:
Envelope width = Insert set width + 26mm

  • Depth Clearance = Thickness of contents, then add 8mm.
Example: For 5mm thickness of contents:
Envelope depth = Insert set depth + 13mm

  • Insert Set Width Variation:
The maximum difference in width between all documents of the insert set
    must be less than 60mm.

  • Important: Most envelopes within these specifications will be
suitable, but final acceptability of any envelope is subject to test.

  • Hopper Capacity:
    Up to 1000 envelopes 80gsm (20lbs bond).
Up to 2000 envelopes 80gsm (20lbs bond) for long conveyor version.

Quadient DS-200i / 700iq

Designed to maximize ease of use, efficiency, and accuracy, the DS-700 iQ meets the demands of nearly every mailing application. From direct mail campaigns, to confidential medical billing or financial statements, no matter how complex the job, the DS-700 iQ maximizes productivity every step of the way.

  • Envelope Weight

    C5 Envelopes (or below):Min. 70gsm (18lbs bond)
    Max. 110gsm (28lbs bond)
    Above C5 Envelopes:Min. 90gsm (24lbs bond)
    Max. 110gsm (28lbs bond)

  • Envelope Requirements

    • Envelope to be of good quality machine-fill type.
    • Dimensions and quality to be consistent across manufactured batches.
    • Side seams must be securely glued to the top of the seam.
    • Flap crease must be pre-scored to enable the envelope flap to open flat.
Flap length > 48mm reduces the machine speed.
    • No glue seepage must be evident on the interior or exterior of the envelope.

Observe the envelope specifications as shown in two images below.

  •

  • Pack Thickness

    Standard Inserter:All envelopes up to 6mm (15/64”)
With Max Pack licence:All envelopes up to 10mm (25/64”)
    NOTE:
Max. pack thickness is defined as the internal dimension of a rigid opening that a filled envelope will fall through under its own weight.

  • Pack Clearance

The minimum clearances required between the inserts and envelopes are dependent on the insert pack thickness.

Clearance is the total clearance and is defined as the difference between the largest overall dimensions of the pack and the internal dimensions of the envelope as shown below.

The required clearances are summarised as follows:

    Up to 3mm:Depth 6mm (1/4”) – Width 16mm (5/8”)
    3mm to 10mm:Depth 12mm (1/2”) – Width 19mm (3/4”)

Remarks:

  • The specification of the paper handling equipment is often wider than that of the envelopes and documents handled. The condition of material handled will limit the specified environmental conditions.
  • We recommend that materials to be handled are stored at a temperature of 20°C (68°F) with a relative humidity factor of 50%. If difference in temperature occurs between store room and mailing area, the material has to be stored near the machine at least 24 hours before use.
  • Self-copying paper may cause rubber parts to wear quicker. The rubber used in this machine has the best resistance to Wiggins Teape material.
